Turbine point farming (also known as favor running) is possible using three main methods: 1) Leveling and re-leveling a single character via Heroic true reincarnation, 2) Leveling and maximizing favor rewards with multiple characters on multiple servers or 3) deleting and recreating a trash (SPONGE) character that collects 100 favor (25 turbine points) over and over. The trash character may be assisted by higher level player characters (favor RUNNER assistants) or the same person playing two or more accounts on the same computer.

We will discuss the 3rd method on this page. But first let's look at the builds.

RUNNER: Iconic Sun Elf Sorcerer 12 / Barbarian 2/ Cleric 1

Air savant sorcerers with 2 level barbarian splash are the best runner builds

Pros:

  • Dimension Door to exit quests quickly

  • Teleport to exit quests quickly and also to teleport to the harbor and to the marketplace quickly

  • Deadly area of effect spells like firewall and also spells that hit multiple mobs in succession like lightning bolt, chain missles

  • Air Savant Wind Dance, Barbarian Innate and Action Speed Boost, and Haste to run faster

  • Resist Energy to protect against Electricity, Acid, and Fire

  • Invisibility to run around and keep dungeon alert low.

  • Blur and Displacement to prevent enemy hits

  • Nightshield or Shield to prevent magic missles

  • Self-healing available via UMD wands, multiclassing 1 level, or warforged repair spells, or regular potions.

Further Details:

A Air Savant Sorcerer is currently the best choice for the runner build in Favor Runs.

To be an effective and efficient runner, your runner should be Level 14 or higher in order to quickly kill mobs and prepare quests and also to survive some of the attacks from the boss and caster mobs. We strongly recommend using Sun Elf Morninglords or other Iconic Races to build a Runner quickly. Leveling a Warforged Sorcerer is an alternative but likely slower than farming points to buy an Iconic on a 2nd account.

The low-level mobs in Korthos Island, the Harbor, and the Marketplace will die quickly from area of effect and other damage spells. Teleport and Dimension Door helps you enter and exit quests faster once you get to a higher level.

Warforged casters have an advantage when it comes to self-repairing. However, non-warforged casters can also get by with the False Life spell and other defensive spells. Multiclassing 1 level into a class with regular healing spells or carrying wands and healing potions are also alternatives. Low level mobs usually don't hurt your runners very much except for Kobold shamans with lightning bolt and traps. A little self-healing is useful for emergencies.

Taking 2 levels of barbarian in order to get access to barbarian fast movement and action point sprint boost enhancements speeds up your runner considerably.

Turbine Points (TP) are used to purchase additional game content that are usually bought with real money or added monthly with a VIP subscription.

The other way to earn Turbine Points is to finish quests for favor. (Finish quests on elite to maximize the favor you get from the quest).

Turbine points by default are earned for every 100 favor that any one character earns. That exchange rate is 100 favor/ 25 TP.

Additionally on your account, you have one-time only rewards that you can earn on each individual server which is known as "Server TP".

Once you reap these rewards you can never get them again except on another server or account.

FAVOR.....TP REWARD
5..............50
25............25
50............25
500..........50
1000.... ...100
2000........100
3000........100

One should at least achieve 50 favor on each server which will grant 100 TP and thus a total of 700 TP if you do it on all servers.

After doing that, you will want to begin favor running with a group of people or by yourself dualboxing.

This means earning that default 25 TP for 100 favor.

Now onto the real stuff!

Question: What will I need to farm 100 favor/25 TP fast?

Answer: (Based on http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=3012617)

You will need to run two DDO clients on the same computer or use two computers. DDO has provided the mechanisms to do this easily. All you need to do is launch the DDO client twice on the same computer (assuming your computer is succificently powerful enough to run two DDO instances).

The organization Favor Runners strongly recommends its farmers be able to Dual Box, meaning to run two clients of DDO at one time to ensure efficient TP/Minute runs (Details on runs below).

To start, begin downloading the DDO client from its main website: https://www.ddo.com/en/game/download

Register two accounts at ddo.com in order to play two accounts at once. After you type your account names and passwords to enter the game, you're done!

Some suggestions while Dual Boxing; keep your graphic settings on "Low" or "Very Low" and activate "Windowed Mode" to increase the speed at which you switch screens. Since there is no /follow in DDO you will have to manually use Autorun if you want to move two characters at once. There are some times where one DDO client stalls at a loading screen, and I have had to exit out of both clients and restart the programs to correct it. This game can be run relatively well on any PC, but I would advice some hardware upgrades to any business laptop.

Some things for troubleshooting the game in general:

If you have latency issues, check to see if pando media booster is running as a process (hit Ctl+Shift+Esc to open task manager) and look under processes and look for anything that says "PMB" or anything like "Pando Media Booster". You should end these processes immediately and uninstall pando media booster for that matter(add/remove programs). PMB is a P2P program that shares the game files so that turbine doesn't have to spend its own bandwidth doing so...but they dont tell you its doing this!

If you have a dual core/quad core etc. you can reduce the chances of your game crashing while dual boxing almost completely by setting your processor affinity. Open up the task manager, find the game processes, which should be "DnDClient..." and there should be two of them. Right click the process and "set affinity". Assign the 1st game process to a single processor(or 2 if y you have a quad core...you get the idea). Assign the 2nd game process to the other processor(s). Now your games are completely independent of each other and won't cause crashing during loading, etc.

Question: What kind of results can be achieved using Favor Runners patented favor farming methods?

Answer: We are interested in the most timely accumulation of Turbine Points possible, and after hours (perhaps weeks) of theorizing, a system has been achieved that has been deemed extremely successful. You shall focus on gaining 0-100 favor within 20 to 60 minutes depending on your efficiency and assistance, by running through the 11 predetermined dungeons listed below. Your main account character will be called Sponge and should be a DISPOSABLE CHARACTER no higher than level 4. Your secondary account be called your Runner, and must be level 7 or higher. Your Runner must be able to solo all of the 11 dungeons on Elite difficulty within 3-5 minutes without the use of hirelings or shrines.

*THIS IS THE REASON IT IS MUCH MORE EFFICIENT IN A GROUP*
A typical group of three players will have three Runners and three Sponges, thereby filling the group. The three Runners will begin to complete their stages of quests SIMULTANEOUSLY and halt before completion. The players then move their Sponges to the quest most near completion and the Runner in that quest will finish it, thereby earning the Sponges full Elite Favor. The Sponges then move to the next dungeon where the next Runner is waiting for them, and gains Favor from it as well, and so on. As each Runner finishes his/her quest, he should rush to the next quest on the list and stop before completion again.

EXAMPLE:
Jerry's runner nearly finishes Heyton's Rest, up until the point that he has to smash the final alter. At the same time, George is completing The Storehouse Secret up until the point where he has to grab the scroll. Both Jerry and George have their Sponges run to Heyton's Rest where Jerry smashes the final alter and earns the Favor for he and George's Sponge. At this point, their Sponges enter The Storehouse Secret, and Jerry starts running The Collaborator. When George finishes The Storehouse Secret for their Sponges, they run to The Collaborator while he begins Information is Key. This pattern continues until Sunken Sewer is completed, and the Sponges for both Jerry and George see they have been mailed a congratulatory message of achieving their first 100 Favor. Jerry and George then delete their Sponges, create new ones, and start again from Heyton's Rest.

The List:

The Storehouse Secret
Heyton's Rest
The Cannith Crystal
The Collaborator
Information is Key
Bringing The Light
Haverdasher
Durk's got a Secret
Garrison's Missing Pack
The Kobold's new Ringleader
Sunken Sewer
Missing in Action

Please do some runthroughs of these quests and get to know them by heart and learn the shortcuts.

Each of these quests should be completed within 2-4 minutes by each Runner, and the group of Sponges should head to the next quest nearest to completion. The stages are for organizational purposes when more than three players want to participate. Again, total time should be 25 minutes, but experience shows that 30-40 minute runs are more common due to human error.

Some tips:

NO SPONGE NEEDS TO GET ANY QUEST ON THE LIST! All Favor will be earned upon completion of the quest they are in, regardless if they have the quest or not. Finding the quest givers and picking rewards tends to slow down the group and should be avoided. Quest rewards may give you some gold, but gold farming is not the goal here.

YOU CAN ENTER THE COLLABORATOR WITHOUT PREVIOUS KORTHOS QUESTS! Enter through the cellar door rather than talking to the innkeeper.

RUNNING PAST ENEMIES IS VERY GOOD! Do not waste time fighting each group of monsters you run into. Instead run through everything, and stop only at a point where fear the Dungeon Alert Yellow or Orange. If there are optional bosses to

IGNORE OPTIONAL QUESTS, BOSSES AND CHESTS! This should go without saying.

DON'T DO CANNITH CRYSTAL! Yes it's right there on Korthos, but it doesn't earn you enough favor to justify running it. It can be easily replaced with Haverdasher considering both quests give the same amount of favor but Crystal is just so much slower.

QUESTS THAT TAKE ONE OR LESS MINUTES TO FINISH! Storehouse Secret, Bringing the Light, Kobold's new Ringleader (2 mins max), Stealthy Repossession (2 mins max), and Sunken Sewer.

MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES FOR RUNNERS! You must have lots of run speed, lots of damage, and moderate survivability.

SUNKEN SEWER! You don't need to lower the bridges, just have a high Jump skill or Jump item to leap out of the water and onto the second platform.

ABOVE ALL: SPEED SPEED SPEED! Jump while casting to remain at normal speed. Know each dungeon by heart and the best places to stop and fight. Use Haste as often as needed and use the extend metamatic feat if you want to cast it less.

GEAR: Air Savant Sorcerer should carry a speed item, fortification item, featherfall item, also magnetism and combustion items.

SPONGE: Human Barbarian

Pros:

  • Least Dragonmark of Passage to move faster (make sure to customize your barbarian build with this)

  • Barbarian Fast Movement

  • Barbarian sponges with 18 Strength and 16 or more Constitution can easily finish the Korthos Village quest, The Storehouse's Secret, on their own without the help of a high-level runner

  • After finishing The Storehouse's Secret on their own, the barbarian sponge can visit the barbarian trainer outside to select the Action Point Sprint Boost enhancement to move around town even faster

  • As a human barbarian, you can also select the Diehard or Toughness feat for extra health (to help finish The Storehouse's Secret quest)

Further Details:

Remember, you want to create the sponge character on the account you want to have Turbine Points credited to. The sponge character will be deleted at the end of one favor (and then re-rolled if more favor runs continue thereafter).

The barbarian sponge should be left at level 1 and begin their favor run in Korthos Village. *(See one exception to this below)

You should always go with a Barbarian because they have their innate speed boost.  Additionally, pick humans for the "Dragonmark of Passage" that works just like the Expeditious Retreat speed boost spell.

You want your sponge to be able to get from one mission to the other very fast so that you can spend time doing other things like preparing quests on your runner account as well as to help cut down overall time for your other party members.

*A level 4 sponge may be created in the case of a marketplace to Korthos Village favor run. One method is to start one run from Korthos Village and end inside marketplace. And then to start the next run from the marketplace and end inside Korthos Village. So you would be alternating your starting and ending points so that your runner would not have to move back to the starting point after finishing a run. Since many players do not have veteran status unlocked on this or that server, Favor Runners usually avoids this alternation method although it may save some time.
